January 19 Progress Report

Hey guys, I hope you are following me along in my progress report. Today I wanted to post a quick update on what I have been doing. Millions of Americans have Facebook accounts and use them for all sorts of sharing. To start with set up an account. A lot of businesses already a page, so go ahead and search on Facebook for your page first. If it is there, you can claim it easily. Heres an image to give you an idea of what you would be looking at:

Click “know the owner” and claim the page.

From here, you will set up with a picture, add information, etc.

In the ‘about’ field of your profile you want to add the link to your website. www.site.com – just like that, as the very first thing in about. Even though there is a field for website, you want it here as well.

Now that you are set up, let’s discuss how you should maintain the account.

Facebook Page Management

First of all, you need regular updates. If you are a restaurant you might want to post your daily specials, and another time of the day you can post information about a dish you feature, something related to restaurant news, a piece of news that pertains to your market such as local news, etc.

A small business store who is trying internet marketing will want to post a couple of times a day, featuring a link, or article that pertains to what you sell, or to something that interests your market. Another post might ask a question to get interaction.

Generally a couple of posts a day will be enough to start getting traction with your account. Remember, even if your market isn’t replying yet, keep going, because at first you won’t have a lot of followers, but your following will grow as long as you market it.

Check in on your account a couple of times a day to see if you have any comments or responses, and make sure you respond to them, not only will it show that you care about your customers, but it will also show in their activities which can lead to more likes.

Marketing Your Page

I always tell people who are interested in internet marketing to get more likes by sending an email to prior customers about the new Facebook page. Other than this, put a link to your Facebook updates on every page of your site, in your sidebar or your header so that people see it.
